Last month we held a contest asking what you would do if you could take your dog ‘back to school’ to learn a concept.  Now this month’s challenge is to put into words in a comment below how you CAN take your dog ‘back to school’ and teach them what you wish you already had!  It’s not too late to start now to work on a problem, training issue, or challenge! The prize this month is another Doggie IQ game – your dog will love it!

The winner will be selected via random number generator on or around Nov. 1st and notified via email.

    How to enter this contest:

If you have never done so before, you must first register your email address on this blog. We will then notify you if you are a winner of this contest. You only need to do this once, and you will be good for all future monthly contests (and get priority notification of when they occur)!

Scroll to the bottom of this page and enter your comment/answer. Or, if there is no box, click on the “comments” in the upper right corner.

This photo was brought to you with the help of liversnaps.

Fall is in the air!  We’re giving away a great IQ game for back to school.  Tell us in the comments below what you would do with your dog differently if you could go ‘back’ to school?

I would have weaned Nova off of treats at a much younger age, and made tugging her primary reinforcement. I think this would have helped with her later behavioral issues massively.

With Hurricane Irene coming, everyone, please stay safe!  Go here for good information on hurricane preparedness.

Don’t forget to batten down your agility course in the face of this, or any big storm (if you have time!).  It may be a good idea to bring your equipment inside, or if that is not possible, lay it flat on the ground. This will minimize the surface area for the wind to catch and toss your equipment.  Most agility obstacles can handle rain – we make our equipment out of durable materials – but tunnels will recover best if they’re rolled over to sun-dry after the rain.

If you were to ask your dog what one obstacle they can’t live without, chances are it’s the tunnel. Most dogs I know absolutely love the tunnel to distraction!  The more, the merrier.  To honor this attachment to tunnels, Affordable Agility is holding a practice tunnel sale! All the practice tunnels are discounted!  Your dog can have a tunnel over their very own to run through, full speed ahead, or curved, or s-shaped!  The fun never ends, because you can turn around and run straight back in, or ahead to the next tunnel… round and round and round!
