• I asked everyone to tell me what their favorite dog trick was, trained or untrained. We had some awesome answers that made me laugh and go ‘awww’ equally!

The winner was Kris! Her dogs’ trick was

“Bailey Jubilee my smooth collie did a cute trick several years ago. We were doing a agility and obedience demonstration for school age children. The kids were lined up in a straight line in front of us as we were getting ready to leave. The thought was as we walked by each student could pet Bailey and say good bye to her. Bailey being the agility dog had other ideas. Instead of walking down the row in heel postion with me she treated the 21 students as weave poles and weaved in and out of them to the very end. The students loved it and Bailey had to do the same trick several times for them.
That has to be one of the best proofing of weave poles I have ever witnessed.”

Isn’t that an awesome untrained (but trained!) trick? She won an aqua hurdle!

Stay tuned for our next contest!

  • I have a Yorkshire Terrier, and he’s tiny! I want to do agility with him, and I was curious if there was a club or organization specifically for small dogs. I’ve seen miniature equipment and it looks like a lot of fun!

    Little Dog in Littlerock, CA

There certainly is! TDAA- teacup dog agility association- is the agility organization solution to the big personalities in small dogs (under 17”)! Seeing a TDAA course may make you say ‘ooh, cute!’ but the competition is anything but! TDAA equipment is designed for little agility dogs, and in response to your demand, Affordable Agility is now carrying its’ own line of TDAA competition and practice equipment.

“The purpose of the Teacup Dogs Agility Association is to provide a competitive venue for dogs of small stature without regard to breed or pedigree.” (Bud Houston, a founder of TDAA) Every small dog has their day, and now thanks to Affordable Agility, every small dog can have their equipment! Our equipment is suited for your teacup dog, and meets TDAA equipment requirements. Smaller obstacles means your dog will be using equipment that’s ‘just right’ for them. Our equipment may look cute and cuddly, but like your dog, it’s made of tougher stuff! Obstacles are built to last and give your big dog in a small body an obstacle built with them in mind.

Small dogs need to have a course and equipment that allows them to showcase their skills. With a full sized course, there’s distance between obstacles for general safety, making tiny dogs’ course times slower, and handling less of a challenge. On a TDAA course, obstacles are closer together, which is perfect for little dogs and smaller spaces! There’s an element of speed and handlers’ challenges on TDAA courses that your teacup won’t find in other venues.

TDAA is a great choice for small dogs. You wouldn’t use improperly sized equipment for yourself. Don’t do it with your agility partner! Your teacup deserves equipment made with them in mind! Miniature equipment for miniature dogs is a must-have. It’s just right for you and your dog, We’re sure you’ll find all our equipment is right for your dog, and for you. If you want something you don’t see, let us know. We’re happy to do custom work!

When you play in TDAA, you’re doing what’s best for your tiny agility dog. It’s not about daunting obstacles, it’s about fun! Your dog will be safer, more confident on course, and you’ll both enjoy your agility experience more.

  • TDAA trials are mad fun- after all, there’s so many little agility dogs to watch rockin’ their stuff on course and around the area, it’s truly amazing!  And the games!

But the question arises- where can you find your own TDAA trial? It’s simple! Just go here and select your state and TDAA, and voila!  You will see all the listings available to you and your dog.

  • TDAA is a great venue for games! There’s so many! And the more the merrier!  You can earn titles in the games classes, as well, which is a great idea in my mind!  I love games.

Check them all out here! The video shows ‘Box Game’.  Try one or two and let us know how it goes!  They look really fun for any dog!

  • Anyone who owns a small dog can tell you- they don’t really believe they’re small! They think they’re big and beautiful. They’re definitely beautiful!

Agility is for everyone! Small dogs enjoy it as much as any border collie, and while they may be happier using smaller equipment, they definitely perform as well.

By popular demand, Affordable Agility has started carrying its’ own line of small dog- TDAA- equipment! (Check out our new teacup teeter! It’s perfect!)

Look at this sheltie go! And that videos’ not on a loop. He’s really having that much fun with a teeter! (note: we do not suggest letting your dog do take-offs like he’s doing.  Apparently he exhibits proper behavior when asked to do his teeter. :) )
